About

It’s the beginning of Spring 2009 in Miami Gardens, Florida at the famous Miami Dolphins Stadium and elevated high above the crowd is Bryan Michael Cox spinning classic tunes for a crowd of 40,000. With thousands of people cheering in a disco frenzy, the most passionate cheers would come from one table in the VIP area the Cox Family Table. “Oh yeah, I was born in Miami,” Cox enthusiastically told the Mayor, “and many of my family still live here so this is like a second home to me!” Equally surprising to the massive crowd was the fact that this Grammy Award winning Songwriter/Producer was DJ’ing.

If you’ve ever had the opportunity to have a conversation with Bryan Michael Cox it will only take a moment to recognize that Bryan loves all things music. A classically trained musician who moved to Houston Texas with his mom at the age of 3, Bryan honed his craft at the High School of the Performing Arts alongside future music icon Beyonce Knowles. “The very first demo tape that I produced was for Beyonce while I was in high school and ironically it was Matthew Knowles who after listening to the demo encouraged me to keep producing,” recalls Cox. After graduating from the High School of the Performing Arts, Cox moved to Atlanta Georgia enrolled as student at Clark University. During his first year in Atlanta Bryan secured an internship at a boutique record label, Noontime Records. Home to such artists and producers as Ashanti, Jazzy Pha and Polow Da Don, Bryan would use his internship as an opportunity to further his music education. At Noontime, Bryan would master the production boards and studio software but it was the connection with music mogul Jermaine Dupri that would fine tune Bryan’s production skills. “Jermaine taught me the beauty of simplicity. Until that point I was so excited to be in the studio that I would use every sound that I could put my hands on!” A quick study, within a year Cox would have his first number one hit with Ideal’s “Get Gone.” Bryan together with Dupri co‐produced blockbuster hits such as Usher’s “You Got itBad,” “Burn” and “Confessions” and Mariah Carey’s “Shake it Off” and “Don’t Forget About Us.” Behind the platinum doors of major record labels, Bryan Michael Cox had officially become a household name. To date Bryan has landed 19 number one hits, Six Grammy Awards, Billboard Songwriter of the Year and the SESAC Songwriter of the Year Award six consecutive years. With hundreds of music productions to his credit including explosive hits like Mary J. Blige’s “Be Without You” and Chris Brown’s “Say Goodbye” Bryan remains a student of music history crediting producers Quincy Jones, Kashif and Teddy Riley among his favorites. His publishing company, December 1st Publishing serves as the writing and production factory for writers that have penned songs for the likes of LaToya Luckett, Mario, Brandy, Day 26, J.Holiday and the critically acclaimed adult cartoon The Boondocks. Together with his spectacular musical fetes, Cox has also been tapped by the W Hotel Brand to serve as the official host for the Wonderlust Live Music Series.

Bryan has also developed brand partnerships with Colgate, Heineken and McDonalds. Cox’s mission to give back to the community that has given so much to him manifested in 2009 when he began guest lecturing at the School of Audio Engineering Institute. Perhaps the challenges that lay ahead of Bryan are most appropriate for a producer whose barometer for triumph is to exceed his personal best. September 19, 2009 another dream was realized when Bryan Michael Cox was inducted into the Georgia Music Hall of Fame In an instant Grammy Award Winning Producer B.Cox will quickly return to the humility that is Bryan Michael whether he’s DJing, behind the piano or behind the studio board still making music with Usher, MariahCarey, Mary J Blige, Keyshia Cole, Trey Songz, Day 26 and Danity Kane and Monica. -Bryan Michael Cox loves all things music.
